Judy and U.S. Rep. Ruben Hinojosa (D-TX-15th) host Financial Literacy Day with Senators Daniel K. Akaka (D-HI) and Michael B. Enzi (R-WY). Financial Literacy Day brings awareness personal financial education to Members of Congress and policymakers. Participating organizations included Jump$tart Coalition, Junior Achievement, and the National Council for Economic Education.
Good Savings Habits Start Young: Judy helps fifth-graders at Ellsworth Elementary School in Naperville learn the importance of savings, quizzing them on the difference between “wants” and “needs”. Last year, the personal savings rate in the U.S. dropped to -0.2 percent, one of the lowest since the Great Depression.
Above Play Ball: Coach Grossman and Coach Judy, Co-chair of the House Financial Literacy Caucus, with her team of students from Orland Park's Carl Sandburg High School and Carl Sandburg teacher Christina Simpson. Grossman continued his winning ways by coaching the Whitney M. Young students to a 20-13 victory over visiting students from Carl Sandburg High School.
