A Fishy Matter: U.S. Rep. David Hobson (R-OH-7) and Judy lift an invader Asian Carp found in the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal near Romeoville. A temporary barrier in Romeoville prevented the Asian Carp to swim to Lake Michigan. Hobson is chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development, which handles funding for energy and water projects such as the carp barrier. Judy discussed with the Chairman about the need for more funding for this critical environmental project conducted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Asian carp have voracious appetites as they can eat up to 50 lbs of food each day.
Visit from Home: What a pleasant surprise it was when First Lt. Scott Zwiers, USAF, of Naperville, piloted the C-130 that took our delegation from Kuwait to Baghdad. A graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, Scott was one of the first class of candidates I had the honor of nominating to the Academy in 2000.
