Description: The following are descriptions of the various types of State-owned Waterways:

"Territorial sea" is the Pacific Ocean from extreme low tide elevation seaward to the three-mile limit.

"Tidally-influenced waterway" is any waterway subject to the rise and fall of tides. The extent or "head" of tide for many Oregon waterways can be found at:
    "Tidally-influenced waterway"

"Meandered lakes" According to the U.S. Government's instructions to its surveyors in the late 1800's, when a navigable waterbody was encountered, a line was to be surveyed along the gorder of the waterbody (usually the line of ordinary high water) to denote its limits. Once done, the waterbody was said to be "menadered." All meandered lakes have been declared to be navigable and public waters. A list of Oregon meandered lakes can be found at "State Ownership of Meandered Lakes".

Navigable waterways" are waterways that have been determined to meet the federal test of navigability for purposes of State ownership of the underlying submerged and submersible land. A list of Oregon navigable waterways can be found at "Oregon's Publicly-Owned Waterways".
