Description: Open field burning
Grass seed and cereal grain growers who wish to burn harvested stubble in the Willamette Valley must register their fields in March, for burning during the summer months following harvest. When the Oregon Department of Agriculture allows burning (because the weather is appropriate for burning), growers will be issued permits for burning specific, pre-registered fields at specific times.

Stack burning
Stack burning is the burning of "stacks" of harvested grass seed or cereal grain straw. Permits may be issued year round, depending upon weather conditions. Permits are obtained by calling the Oregon Department of Agriculture at 503-986-4701.
