Wipeout: How the Democratic Majority Abandoned its Promises of Openness and Civility
A new report on the 110th Congress by the Committee on Rules Republicans
As the 110th Congress concludes, the Committee on Rules Republican Members released this report on the new Democratic Majority's record of openness in their first Congress in control in 12 years.
The report, which contrasts their promises to run the House of Representatives in a fashion which invites divergent opinions and allows full, fair consideration and debate (outlined in their document A New Direction for America) with their record in the 110th Congress. As the report shows, the Majority has failed to live up to its promises in almost every case, and have even exceeded the Republican-controlled 109th Congress in their reliance on closed and restrictive processes.
