New Hire and Case Registry Data Transmission

AUG 19 1997 DC-97-48

TO ALL IV-D DIRECTORS

Re: New Hire and Case Registry Data Transmission

Dear Colleague:

CONNECT:Direct is the telecommunication system operated by the Social Security Administration (SSA), which will be used by the States to transmit new hire, quarterly wage, unemployment compensation and case data to the National Directory of New Hires (NDNH) and to the Federal Case Registry. SSA has established a CONNECT:Direct contacts. We have also enclosed the list of the CONNECT:Direct contacts for each State.

As indicated in the enclosed letter, we are interested in testing CONNECT:Direct link between your State and SSA, which is where the NDNH will be housed.

Please contact the individuals in your State involved in this process to ensure they are ready to begin testing. We are committed to full implementation of the new hire reporting program by October 1, 1997. If you have any questions, please contact Philip Browning at (202) 414-3644.

Sincerely,

David Gray Ross

Deputy Director
