If it wasn’t for Job Corps, where would we be?

On Thursday, August 7, 2008, Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Chief of Staff Debbie Musgrove Zimmerman visited Homestead Job Corps Center. “Job Corps is an opportunity to build a foundation for young lives and gain the self-esteem needed to succeed in the world” said the Congresswoman. During the visit, Business & Community Liaison Lesly Diaz presented a certificate of appreciation to Congresswoman Ros-Lehtinen for her many years helping our communities as a tireless advocate for Job Corps and “at promise” youth in Florida.
Student Government member Hector Gomez told the Congresswoman that “as a member of the Student Government Association at Homestead Job Corps Center, I am so appreciative of the support you have shown to our Center and all of its students. It is through your efforts, and others like you, that we are able to succeed above and beyond all of our expectations. If it wasn’t for Job Corps, where would we be?”    “Job Corps has also helped me provide a better future for my wife, my two daughters and myself. Job Corps has done this by providing me with the means to obtain my diploma and train in the challenging field of Computer Repair in which I will obtain my A+ certification. “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” There is no better quote that can sum up Job Corps. So much can be obtained with the willingness to learn.” stated Hector Gomez, SGA Male Chief Justice.
