Ros-Lehtinen Pleased With Vote To Authorize

The “Preserve America Program” & “Save America’s Treasures Program” In Effort To Restore Our Nation’s Cultural

& Historical Legacy

Washington, DC --- Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, senior member of the Florida Congressional Delegation, is pleased with today’s vote by the House to authorize the “Preserve America Program” and “Save America’s Treasures Program” to restore and preserve historical, cultural, educational and architectural projects across the United States.

By naming official projects, “Save America’s Treasures” has brought national recognition to significant preservation efforts across the country. The primary benefit of this designation is association with the program itself as they are allowed to use the “Save America’s Treasures” name and logo to assist in promotional and public awareness activities.

Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen’s Congressional District has 4 projects that are designated under the “Save America’s Treasure Program.” They are:

  • Fort. Zachary Taylor (Key West)
  • Historic City Hall (Miami Beach)
  • Fort Jefferson (Dry Tortugas)
  • Historic Log Cabin (Biscayne Park)

As of January 2001, “Save America’s Treasures” has designated 722 official projects.

“Save America’s Treasures” is a public-private partnership between the National Park Service and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
