Ros-Lehtinen To Host FEMA, Fish & Wildlife Service Roundtable With Monroe County Residents

To Address Map/Property List Issue

 

Monroe County, Florida – Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, senior member of the Florida Congressional Delegation, will be hosting a roundtable discussion this upcoming Saturday, August 2nd with officials from FEMA and the US Fish and Wildlife Service to address the concerns of residents regarding sensitive habitat map/property list issue.

 

In April of this year, the United States 11th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a 2005 injunction that prohibits FEMA from issuing flood insurance for new development in areas deemed sensitive habitats of eight threatened and endangered species. Close to 49,000 parcels of land are affected by this court order.

 

Please note that the correct time of meeting if from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, and not from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM as some outlets had said.
