TOMORROW TUESDAY: Ros-Lehtinen To Award Check

 In Federal Funds To The Miami Science Museum

& Participate In Several Museum Activities; Congresswoman Will

Also Have Lunch With Students At The Fienberg-Fisher K-8 Center

 

Miami, Florida ---- Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, who represents the 18th Congressional District and serves as Ranking Republican Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, will visit tomorrow, Tuesday, the Miami Science Museum to attend a check presentation for $738,000 in federal funds she has helped obtain for this important Miami institution; while at the Museum, the Congresswoman will also participate in several activities. Ros-Lehtinen then visits the Fienberg-Fisher K-8 Center in Miami Beach where she will have lunch with the students as well as tour their organic garden.  

 

At the Miami Museum of Science, Ros-Lehtinen will present the Museum with a check for federal funds for $738,000 that have allowed for the Miami Museum of Science to continue with its cutting edge scientific investigations, displays and educational offerings. Ros-Lehtinen will also take part in the planting of a native tree with the artist in residence, Xavier Cortada, take questions from children about reforestation and how to better instill green values as they grow up. Ros-Lehtinen will also help release a Cooper Hawk back into the wild after the Museum rehabilitated it at their Wildlife Center. The Congresswoman will arrive at the Miami Museum of Science at 10:00 AM, the Museum is located at 3280 South Miami Avenue, Miami.

 

Congresswoman Ros-Lehtinen then visits the Fienberg-Fisher K-8 Center in Miami Beach where she will have lunch with the students as well as tour their organic garden. The school is utilizing the Healthy Schools Program to make this learning center a healthier place to learn and work. With childhood obesity rates rising at an alarming rate, Fienberg-Fisher K-8 is committed to being a part of this Program which supports the schools efforts to improve access to healthier foods, increase opportunities for physical activities and establish staff wellness programs. Ros-Lehtinen will visit the school at 1:00 PM, located at 1420 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach
