Ros-Lehtinen To Co-Sponsor The Annie Fox Act To Help

Battle Breast Cancer In Young Women

Washington, DC --- Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen will cosponsor the Annie Fox Act to battle breast cancer in young women. The bill is named after a young woman in Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey's (D-CA) District who passed away from the disease. Marin County, California has the highest rate of breast cancer in the country.  The Bill will be presented early next week.

This legislation will authorize cutting edge research on breast cancer and implement outreach programs focused on younger women. It will work by improving diagnostic tools and screening devices to prevent and treat this disease in younger victims. Ros-Lehtinen was a co-sponsor of this bill during the last Congress.

Said Ros-Lehtinen, "I am honored to once again support this very important piece of legislation. Passage of this bill will affect millions of lives and it will improve important research tools that are needed to help treat and prevent breast cancer. Making this all the more appealing is the fact that it is directed at younger women who sometimes do not get the attention they deserve when we talk about this illness. I urge all my colleagues to support this bill and help open another front in the war against breast cancer."
