Ros-Lehtinen and State Representative Luis R. Garcia, Jr To Host Press Conference Tomorrow Saturday To Urge State Action To Permanently Repair The Miami River Sea Wall and Create a Publicly Accessible Riverwalk Boarding the Ancient Miami Circle

(Miami, FL) -- Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, senior member of the Florida Congressional Delegation, and State Representative Luis R. Garcia, Jr., will host a press conference TOMORROW Saturday, July 21 to urge the Florida Secretary of State to repair the Miami River Sea Wall boarding the 2,000 year old Miami Circle.  The sea wall collapsed last month into the Miami River, taking a wide section of the publicly owned land with it.

Congresswoman Ros-Lehtinen and Representative Garcia, Jr., wrote a letter to the Florida Secretary of State asking the agency to take immediate action in repairing the collapsed Miami Circle sea wall with a permanent sea wall.

Upon completion of the long awaited and widely supported final seawall replacement, the Congresswoman and ST Rep. strongly recommend the immediate creation of a riverwalk, in order to finally provide public access to the ancient Miami Circle site, which was purchased by the taxpayers for $25 million in 1999.  Doing so will significantly improve quality of life for residents and tourists alike, by creating a publicly accessible greenspace in the heart of downtown Miami, located within the Congresswoman and Representatives districts.

WHEN: TOMORROW, Saturday, July 21, 2007
