(Washington, DC) - Congressman Baron Hill announced a grant today for Floyd, Orange, Perry, Scott and Spencer Counties. The U.S. Department of Labor has issued National Emergency Grant Funds through the Workforce Investment Act to 12 counties in Indiana, five of which are located in the Ninth Congressional District. The $720,000 grant will be administered by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
According to a release issued by the Department of Labor, the funds will be used for a project that “will create temporary employment to assist in clean-up and recovery efforts as a result of the September 2008 Storms and Flooding, as well as provide goods, clothing, shelter, and other humanitarian assistance for disaster victims.”
“I am pleased Floyd, Orange, Perry, Scott and Spencer Counties will be receiving these funds,” Hill said. “People are still trying to rebuild their lives due to last year’s extreme weather and I am confident this money will be put to good use.”
