Data Availability Update: (16 December 2002)
The Terra instrument science teams spent much of Terra's first 24 months of operations calibrating their respective sensors, fine-tuning their science algorithms, validating their data products, and then reprocessing the data to ensure maximum quality for science. Data products labeled "validated" are deemed suitable for systematic studies of longer-term climate change or short-term process studies. Terra data are available through the EOS Data Gateway.
ASTER data are stored and distributed by the Land Processes DAAC. Click here to review the release status of each ASTER data product, or click here to read instructions on how to obtain ASTER data. Be sure to visit the ASTER Image Gallery for high-resolution and 3-D shots around the world.
CERES data are stored and distributed by the Langley DAAC. Click here to review the release status of each CERES data product, or click here to order CERES data. The CERES Image Gallery has samples of the sensor’s regional and global measurement capabilities.
MISR data are stored and distributed by the Langley DAAC. Click here to learn about how the MISR data are processed, or click here to order MISR data. Use the MISR Browse Tool to review the sensor's data set, or visit the MISR Image Gallery to access some spectacular samples suitable for Web or poster display. MISR data of tropical cyclones is available from the JPL Tropical Cyclone Information System.
MODIS Ocean products are stored and distributed at Ocean Color Web, MODIS Level 1 and Atmosphere products are stored and distributed at the Level 1 and Atmosphere Archive and Distribution System (LAADS) site. Land data are stored and distributed by Land Processes DAAC, and snow & ice data are stored and distributed by the National Snow and Ice Data Center . The MODIS Home Page has an image gallery that features stunning new images every day.
Visit the MODIS Science Discipline Browse pages to review the global-scale data products available for order:
The MODIS Land Rapid Response System provides a quick and easy way to browse near-real-time Terra & Aqua MODIS images over the Earth’s lands and coastal zones. The site also features an outstanding MODIS Image Gallery. The Rapidfire system is also now prototyping the ability to order data granules of interest.
Terra MODIS began Direct Broadcast of its data in March 2000, and Aqua MODIS began Direct Broadcast in July 2002. Anyone interested in obtaining Direct Broadcast data, or establishing a downling station, should refer to the EOS Direct Broadcast website.
MOPITT data are stored and distributed by the Langley DAAC. Click here to read details on the status of MOPITT data, or review this Guide for help in ordering MOPITT data. The MOPITT home page now offers the ability to browse its acquisitions.
Visit the EOS Data Gateway for more details on Terra data products. To learn about new science results from Terra and other NASA Earth science missions, visit the Earth Observatory.
