Contractor Emergency Equipment Hire Information

The USDA Forest Service, Pacific Southwest Region solicits offers for the rental of equipment on a Call-When-Needed basis from the private sector to assist in wildfire suppression on National Forest System lands in California. The most common types of equipment used are dozers, tractors, crew carriers, fuel and water tenders, 4X4 vehicles and other related equipment and services. Multiple pieces of equipment may be signed up under a single agreement.

Contractors who rent equipment with operator must carry adequate liability insurance to protect the Contractor and the Forest Service from loss arising from the performance on an Incident. Additionally, the Forest Service will inspect the equipment prior to use to insure that it is safe and operational.

If you are interested in this program please locate the established rate for your specific piece of equipment in the accompanying EERA Rate Guide. Please note that most of the equipment rate is identified by horsepower. Therefore, if you are offering a dozer that is not listed by make and model in the rate guide you would look at the equivalent horse power to ascertain the correct rate. If you have equipment; e.g, buses, where there is no rate listed then a rate will be negotiated on a case by case basis. Carefully review the General and Supplemental General Provisions to the OF-294. These General Provisions will be the terms and conditions under which the agreement will administered.

Please contact the closest USDA Forest Service unit to your place of business. Generally this will be the unit where you will sign up your equipment. You cannot sign up at multiple locations.
