BONO MACK: ECONOMIC STIMULUS GOOD FOR AMERICAN FAMILIES
Emphasizes importance of pro-growth tax policy

Washington, Jan 29, 2008 - Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (CA-45) today praised House passage of the bipartisan economic stimulus package that will bring immediate relief to American families, without increasing taxes or implementing unrelated spending measures. The stimulus package passed by a vote of 385-45, with one voting present. Bono Mack issued the following statement:

“I applaud House Leadership, both Republicans and Democrats, for their bipartisan efforts to quickly pass this economic stimulus package, and I urge the Senate to do the same.” said Bono Mack. “If enacted quickly, this bipartisan package will put money in the pockets of hardworking Americans and provide families with immediate relief.

“Our economic situation demands our attention – both with this interim solution and in a long-term commitment to pro-growth tax policies that will foster a healthy American economy into the future.”

Bono Mack recently joined several of her colleagues in introducing the Fair and Simple Tax (FAST) Act, H.R. 5105, which would create a new tax filing form while simplifying tax liability, lowering the capital gains rate, and repealing burdensome federal taxes like the estate and gift taxes.
