Corporation (FDIC)
The
FDIC is an independent agency created by Congress that contributes to
stability and public confidence in the nation’s financial system by
insuring deposits, examining and supervising financial institutions, and
managing receiverships. The FDIC responds rapidly, innovatively
and effectively to risks of the financial system. The FDIC works effectively with
other regulators to achieve consistency in policy and regulation of
financial institutions. The
FDIC’s long and continuing tradition of public services is supported and
sustained by a highly skilled and diverse workforce that responds
rapidly and successfully to changes in the financial environment.
Division of Information Technology Student
Internship Program
The Division of
Information Technology (DIT) is one of several operating divisions
within the FDIC. DIT provides information technology corporate-wide.
As the FDIC’s technology leader, DIT provides the Corporation with
innovative and cost-cost effective IT solutions to support core business
processes and to achieve mission-critical goals.
The DIT Student
Internship Program was created to attract and recruit
quality student interns to the FDIC’s Division of Information Technology
(DIT) who would like to combine academic studies with paid
on-the-job experience with the possibility of converting to a permanent
position.
Student Educational
Employment Program (SEEP)
The FDIC's Student Educational
Employment Program (SEEP) is the authority under which student interns
are recruited and hired at the FDIC. The primary objectives of the SEEP
is to attract and recruit quality students to meet short and long-range
staffing needs, bring new educational methods and concepts into the
workforce, strengthen relationships between educators and federal
employers, assist students in applying classroom theory and practical work
experience, assist interns in meeting financial obligations, and
expanding teaching resources and faculty knowledge of workforce needs.
SEEP
consists of the following two flexible components:

Student Career
Experience Program (SCEP)
provides students the opportunity to earn a salary and obtain work
experience that is directly related to their education and career
goals with the possibility of converting to a permanent position at the completion of the
program. SCEP provides for a
partnership between the student, school, and DIT. A minimum grade
point average (GPA) as documented and agreed upon in a working
agreement must be maintained.

Student Temporary
Employment Program (STEP)
also enables students to earn a salary while continuing their
education however, STEP participant’s work assignments do not
need to be related to the student’s academic or career pursuits
and there is no provision for competitive appointment. Participants
are required to maintain a grade point average (GPA) of a 2.0 on a 4.0
scale.
