SUBJECT: | STAFF REQUIREMENTS - SECY-00-0049 - RESULTS OF THE REVISED REACTOR OVERSIGHT PROCESS PILOT PROGRAM (Part I) |
By means of this Staff Requirements Memorandum and subject to completion by staff of the issues that must be resolved to support initial implementation, the Commission has approved, without delay or alteration, the initial implementation of the revised reactor oversight process at all operating commercial nuclear power plants (except for the D.C. Cook plant) as described in the staff's transition plan. The Commission has also approved the termination of the SALP process.
The Commission notes that the staff has commenced a dialogue with the industry and stakeholders on the issue of including manual scrams in the unplanned scram performance indicator. The staff should expeditiously report back to the Commission with a discussion of potential resolutions and schedules.
