The Emergency Management Issues Special Interest Group (EMI SIG) fosters the exchange of information, ideas, resources and products to support the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) emergency management community. The emphasis is on addressing common issues and concerns across the DOE complex. The group is sponsored by the DOE Office of Emergency Management and Policy (NA-41) and advised by the DOE Office of Transportation (EM-11).
Established in 1986, the EMI SIG has a membership of over 900 DOE and DOE contractor employees. A Steering Committee composed of emergency managers from several DOE sites provides leadership to the group. Most SIG activity is carried out through the following five subcommittees:
