previous 9 of 9
Smokejumpers parachute out of airplanes to reach wildland fires in remote areas. They are highly trained, experienced firefighters known for their leadership during quick "initial attack" on wildland fires. Fire fighting tools, food and water are dropped by parachute, making them self-sufficient for the first 48 hours. Smokejumpers travel throughout the country, including Alaska.
