Business Development

Agricultural Marketing & Business Development staff members assist individuals, businesses, industries and regional economic development organizations with ag-related business development planning, project coordination, legal and regulatory assistance and other services. Programs and staff efforts focus on business start-up and expansion, as well as business recruitment and relocation projects.

Growth Through Agriculture

Business & Marketing staff members provide daily operations support for the Montana Growth Through Agriculture (GTA) program, working with the Montana Agriculture Development Council, which meets quarterly to review project proposals and award financial assistance. The GTA program assists in the development of innovative agricultural businesses, products and marketing endeavors to add value to Montana's agricultural industry.

Domestic Marketing Assistance

The department provides domestic marketing assistance to producers of food, value-added agricultural products and livestock industries. Services include market planning assistance, plan reviews, market research and other promotional campaigns, trade show assistance, and programs that provide access to key contacts within target markets.

International Marketing

Staff members assist exporters and those seeking international markets by providing access to federal financial assistance for international marketing, training on entering international markets, product promotion, regulatory assistance, and promotional efforts.

Industry & Commodity Development

The department assists industry and commodity groups and development organizations with research and development of trade opportunities, project coordination on behalf of industry groups or teams, and feasibility research specific to an agricultural industry or commodity.
