reviews decisions of the Superior Court and the District of
Columbia's administrative agencies. The decisions of
the Court of Appeals are reviewable by the Supreme Court of
the United States. The Court of Appeals is also responsible
for admissions to the D.C. Bar, attorney discipline, and oversight
of the unauthorized practice of law.
The Superior Court of the District of Columbia handles all
local trial court matters, including civil, criminal, family
court, probate, tax, landlord and tenant, traffic, and other
functions. There are 62 trial judges and 25 magistrate judges,
led by Chief Judge Lee F. Satterfield.
