The Work We Do

Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation is responsible for providing citizens and visitors with a transportation system, infrastructure and services that are safe, efficient, sustainable and accessible while supporting community and economic growth. Functional areas include: Accommodation Services, Administrative Services, Canada-Manitoba Infrastructure, Engineering and Operations, Manitoba Floodway Authority, Supply and Services, Motor Carrier and Transportation Policy.

Job opportunities include civil engineers, engineer aids, civil technicians, mechanical/electrical engineers, lab technicians (soil and material testing), computer automated drafting technicians, heavy duty mechanics, heavy equipment operators, tradespersons, trades helpers, compliance officers, computer programmers and analysts, policy and program analysts, financial and administrative officers, administrative assistants and clerks, human resource consultants, labourers, power engineers, pilots, aircraft maintenance engineers, electricians, airport equipment operators, cable ferry operators, radio technicians, storekeepers, building service workers/assistants, security officers and landscape technicians/gardeners.

The department participates in co-operative education programs by providing civil engineering and civil technology students with practical work experience to help them succeed in their studies. Students further their education while receiving practical experience in planning, designing and constructing highways and other public infrastructure.
