Putting Children and Families First

The Province of Manitoba, with its community partners, has developed a continuum of programs and services for children, youth and families. Choose from the age groups below to learn more. Program descriptions will appear below. You can also view a text version of this page.

Early Childhood Development

The Early Childhood Development section describes the investments made to support families and communities in helping children get the best possible start in life.
Parent-Child Centred Coalitions

The Parent-Child Centred Approach brings resources together through community coalitions across the province to support parenting, improve children\'s nutrition and literacy, and build capacity for helping families in their own communities.
FASD Strategy

The Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Strategy helps with the prevention, intervention and care and support of individuals with FAS or alcohol related birth defects.
Families First

Families First offers home visiting supports to families with children, from pregnancy to school entry.
Healthy Baby Prenatal Benefit

The Healthy Baby Prenatal Benefit is a monthly cheque available to income-eligible women to help with eating well during pregnancy.
Healthy Baby Community Programs

Healthy Baby Community Support Programs offer social support and informal learning opportunities to encourage early, regular prenatal care and promote healthy infant development.

Child Day Care coordinates and oversees accessible, high-quality child care for children from 12 weeks to 12 years of age.
Children's Special Services

Children's Special Services
provides support to families to care for children who have physical and/or mental disabilities.
Education's ECD Initiative

Education and Youth's Early Childhood Development Initiative assists school divisions/districts in providing services for pre-schoolers (birth to 5 years of age) to increase readiness for school.
