Kosmas Named to Committee Overseeing NASA Operations
Sends Letter Urging an Additional $2 Billion for NASA in Upcoming Stimulus

(Washington, DC) -- Congresswoman Suzanne Kosmas (FL-24) was selected today to serve on the House Committee on Science & Technology, the committee with jurisdiction over NASA funding and operations. Her selection to the committee will allow Congresswoman Kosmas to fulfill her commitment to protecting the jobs and local economy spurred by Kennedy Space Center.

"Serving on the Science & Technology Committee will give me the opportunity to fight to fully fund Kennedy Space Center's operations," said Congresswoman Kosmas. "The Space Center is an economic engine for my district. I will do all that I can to protect the jobs it creates." …
Congresswoman Kosmas Helps Pass Children's Health Care Bill
(Washington, DC) -- Today Congresswoman Suzanne Kosmas (FL-24) voted for H.R. 2, the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) Reauthorization bill. The bipartisan bill, which passed by a vote of 289-139, renews and improves SCHIP, providing health care coverage for 11 million children -- preserving coverage for the 7 million children currently covered by SCHIP and extending coverage to 4 million uninsured children who are currently eligible for, but not enrolled in, SCHIP and Medicaid.

"This is an opportunity for Florida's working families to have access to quality, affordable health care for their children," said Congresswoman Kosmas. "With rising unemployment and underemployment, SCHIP has never been more important."…
Congresswoman Kosmas Calls for Strong Accountability in Upcoming Stimulus
(Washington, DC)--In keeping with her commitment to foster greater accountability and transparency, Congresswoman Suzanne Kosmas (FL-24), along with several of her colleagues from both parties, sent a letter today to House leadership calling for better protection of taxpayer dollars in the upcoming economic stimulus package through provisions to track and measure the impact of federal money and institute thorough reporting at all levels of government.

"My priority is to protect taxpayer dollars while providing accountability and transparency in all federal spending programs," said Congresswoman Kosmas. "The only way to ensure that the stimulus creates good, high-paying jobs is to impose strong accountability measures from the beginning."…
