1. In turfgrass management, any living organism that competes with turfgrass plants for nutrients, light, water, air and space to the degree that it adversely affects the performance of the turfgrass; examples include weeds, insects, fungi and nematodes.
The picture shows a Japanese Beetle, a common plant pest.
