Building Technologies Program

The U.S. Department of Energy's Building Technologies Program

develops test procedures and minimum efficiency standards for residential appliances and commercial equipment.

  • Compliance Certification Management System (CCMS)
    CCMS is the on-line workflow application which permits manufacturers of residential appliances and commercial equipment and their third party representatives to submit compliance and certification information to DOE via the web.
  • Test Procedure Guidance for Appliances and Commercial Equipment
    This database is designed to provide guidance on Department of Energy test procedures. It enables users to search for existing guidance by product type or post new questions on the proper interpretation of the Department's test procedures.
  • Appliances and Commercial Equipment Standards
    On this site, you can find out more about DOE's program, find the general rules and regulations with which manufacturers need to comply, and find the latest information on rulemaking, standards, and test procedures for specific products.
  • Certification and Enforcement
    DOE currently has existing certification, compliance, and enforcement regulations for certain consumer products and commercial and industrial equipment covered under the Energy Policy and Conservation Act of 1975, as amended.
