Master Gardeners

The trained volunteers of the University of California Cooperative Extension Master Gardener program assist the public by providing free practical scientific horticulture and gardening information to the citizens of Tuolumne County.

This year, besides the traditional emphasis on general gardening and landscaping, Master Gardeners are focusing on water conservation, backyard composting, and alternatives to chemical use in lawns and gardens. Tuolumne County Master Gardeners host such activities as free gardening demonstrations on "Open Garden Days, " the first Saturday of each month at the Master Gardener Demonstration Garden  (251 S. Barretta St., Sonora) and the annual Garden Tour on the third Sunday in May.  For more information on the Master Gardener program, including whom to contact and how to become a Master Gardener, please call (209) 533-5696.
