The Endocrine Society's Research (Bridge) Grants

Request for Applications

The Endocrine Society invites applications for its 2009 Bridge Grant Program. In its first two years, the program awarded 17 $50,000 grants to members with outstanding research projects. Several awardees have reported restored funding either during or immediately after the term of their bridge grants. The program is open to members engaged in basic, clinical, and translational science whose projects have been denied funding by a federal agency or large granting institution. The following conditions apply for 2009:

  1. Investigators who have been or are currently funded under a mentored transitional award (such as an NIH K award) may apply based on a non-funded new independent research grant (R01 or equivalent) provided the project is an extension of their mentored work.
  2. Investigators with a history of independent grant funding may apply based on a non-funded renewal grant for an ongoing project. Established investigators are not eligible to apply based on a non-funded new grant.
  3. Non-funded grants on which applications are based must have been ranked within the top 40th percentile in the original review.

Applications from members living anywhere in the world will be considered. Eligible members may apply for up to $50,000 in interim funding to allow them to keep key personnel and continue laboratory research operations while other outside funding is being sought.
