The W. K. Kellogg Endowed Chair in Sustainable Food Systems

Purpose: The W.K. Kellogg Endowed Chair in Sustainable Food Systems will provide leadership as director of the UC Davis campus Agricultural Sustainability Institute and the statewide UC Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program. The holder of this chair will leverage these programs along with research and teaching activities to foster a safe, healthy, and accessible food supply for Californians.  The Chair will also apply UC Davis' resources toward building a national collaborative network of leaders in the field of sustainability.

Year Established and Funding: A major gift was received from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation in May 2005. The endowed chair was officially established in July 2006.

Current Chair Holder: Professor Tom Tomich is the inaugural chair holder. Tomich holds a joint faculty appointment in the Department of Human and Community Development and in the Department of Environmental Science and Policy.
