The Amacayacu plot is located at the Amacayacu National Natural Park, Colombian Amazonia. The plot was established on Tertiary sedimentary plains (Pebas Formation), characterised by a hilly and moderated dissected topography.

As of June 2008, the state of advance in the establishment of the plot is as follows:

  • Twenty hectares with all trees (dbh > 10 cm) mapped, tagged, and measured.

  • Fifteen hectares with all treelets (1 cm < dbh < 10 cm) mapped, tagged, and measured.

  • Fifteen hectares with all trees (dbh > 10 cm) collected, and in process of identification.

  • Two hectares with all treelets (1 cm < dbh < 10 cm) collected, and in process of identification.

Toward the end of 2008, the whole plot of 25 ha will be set and all trees (dbh > 10 cm) will be mapped, tagged, and measured. At least 20 ha will also have all trees (dbh > 10 cm) collected and identified, plus the other 2 ha considering treelets. The remaining 10 ha of treelets to be mapped, tagged, measured, and collected will be surveyed in 2009.
