Since its inception in 1998, GAP has worked to further CRDF’s mission by providing crucial project support services for a wide array of international collaborations.
Drawing upon mechanisms refined in over a decade of grant administration and project management throughout Eurasia and other regions, GAP is designed to ease logistical burdens and maneuver bureaucratic barriers associated with international R&D.
Originally launched in the 1990s to offer a means for donors to provide needed support to scientists in the former Soviet Union, GAP provides a tailored framework within which universities, companies, government agencies, and non-profits exchange expertise and promote innovation globally.
Recognizing the transformation of the former Soviet countries and the need for similar services in other regions, GAP has grown beyond its original role of facilitating assistance into a valuable tool for building and sustaining international partnerships.
GAP continues to provide secure and accountable distribution of project funds, equipment procurement, travel arrangements, detailed accounting and oversight. In response to client needs GAP is expanding logistical support, shipping and customs assistance, contract and Intellectual Property guidance, and other services.
Today GAP continues to evolve both in its scope of service offerings and geographic capabilities as it anticipates changes affecting international R&D and positions partners for emerging global opportunities.
