Date: June 22nd to June 26th 2008

Housing/Food:

shopping Participants will stay in the air-conditioned Hillenbrand Hall and dine in Purdue's exquisite dinning courts.

Example Activities:

  • playing with a robot Campers will be challenged to program a 2-foot tall robot to perform a choreographed dance. The campers will also have to perform this same dance along with the robot.

  • motion capture We have collaborated with the state of the art Envision Center at Purdue University.  Campers will utilize motion capture technology, such as that which is used in video games today. This activity will have the campers creating a cheerleading or dance routine on the computer from the captured cheerleading and motions to create their own “digital routine ”.

  • Of course the robots will need music to dance to. The campers will learn how to mix their own music as they also learn the physics of sound.

  • Aviation Technology has people flying all over the place and so will we, but we are going to do it in the pool! Campers will throw baskets in the pool after they learn the physics behind the madness. How does a plane take off and how does a person “take off”?

  • While working in teams all week long the campers will not only learn teamwork skills but also building construction management skills as they pass through various challenges.

  • pyramid of death The campers will be required to create their own 2.5 high person “structure” and then communicate it to the Purdue Cheerleaders, without ever meeting them. All they will have to work with is Alice (a programming program) and a one page word document.

  • pyramid of death How do products get from point A to point B? The Industrial technology department will show campers exactly how their shoes, poms and uniform orders get to them through the "supply chain game."

*Each major is represented through one of the many activities that are planned.

This camp is for you if…
