Learning Could be at Your Front Door: Community-Based Learning Centers

If you live in Indiana, the odds are good that you are within a short drive of one of the more than 60 community learning centers that can provide you with access to distance learning courses and degree programs from Indiana colleges and universities. Many learning centers also offer noncredit training and personal development programs taught on-site by faculty or local experts.

Purdue Cooperative Extension Service and Continuing Education collaborate in supporting nine community-based learning centers in Indiana. These learning centers offer citizens in communities without convenient access to college or university campuses the opportunity to take advantage of Indiana higher education resources through the Indiana College Network. The Centers also feature programs developed to address specific learning needs within the community and delivered by learning center personnel, extension educators, university instructors, or community experts. Many learning centers collaborate with local industry to provide university-based training for their employees. Many learning centers are funded through community foundations and other local supporters.
