01/07/2008 - Executive Update of Hydrologic Conditions:
A synopsis of statewide water conditions has been updated on CDEC as of January 7, 2009. This product is generally updated weekly or biweekly (sooner if hydrologic conditions warrant it ) during the wet season. Beginning about June 1, this product is updated monthly through the summer and dry fall months, unless there are significant hydrologic changes. The next anticipated update will be about Friday, January 23, 2009. The Executive Update of Hydrologic Conditions can be found at:

DWR Announces January 2009 Snow Survey Results - 12/29/2008
The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) will conduct its first snow survey of the new winter season at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2008, near Lake Tahoe. Reporters and photographers should take snowshoes or cross-country skis and park vehicles along Highway 50. The survey will be the first of five monthly measurements that help water supply planners estimate the amount of spring snowmelt runoff into reservoirs. DWR Snow Survey March 26
DWR's fourth 2008 winter snow survey will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2008, near Lake Tahoe. Monthly measurements are made through May to help forecast the amount of spring runoff into reservoirs. The fourth survey is generally considered to be the most important in gauging how much water is being held in the Sierra snow pack. (03/17/2008) News Release...

Phillips Station depth is 86.1," water content 33.7." 136 percent of long-term average.
DWR Announces Snow Survey Results, Limits on Delta Pumping Go in Effect
Results of today's snow survey by DWR show Sierra snowpack conditions at 118 percent of normal for this time of year. While this would normally be a positive indication that the state's water supply is in good shape, DWR also announced that it will need to further reduce Delta pumping starting today to comply with a federal court order limiting water exports. New CDEC Website Design
Coming in November, the California Data Exchange Center will launch a new website using the State of California's new web portal design standards. The new standards
were developed to provide a user-friendly gateway for citizens, agencies, businesses, and the media to access government services. The CDEC staff is excited about the
updated look and functionality of the new website. The major change has been the organization of web pages, most of the tools and links that are accessed within the existing CDEC website will still function as they currently do.
Here are a few new features:
- Subject category tabs to allow more flexible access to tools and links.
- Addition of left sidebar navigation for easy access to popular links.
- Enhanced data plotting.
- Announcements box in the Home page contents area with a vertical scrollbar to cover all messages and announcements from most current to the past.

It serves as a planning document to improve DWR's flood emergency response readiness. National Flood Safety Awareness Week
Sacramento: The National Weather Service's Sacramento Office will hold a press briefing at 10 A.M. on Thursday, March 22 in conjunction with National Flood Safety Awareness Week. Representatives from California-Nevada River Forecast Center and the State of California's Department of Water Resources will highlight flood preparedness efforts, warning procedures and current water storage status. Following brief comments on flood safety awareness, local, state, and federal agency representatives will be available to answer questions about flood management. Tide Data Reporting, DWR & National Weather Service
Commencing on October 1, 2006 DWR will change from reporting all tide data collected at 44 locations in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and Suisun March from National Geodetic Vertical Datum 1929 (NGVD29) to the North American Vertical Datum 1988 (NAVD88) standard (09/21/2006). On October 1, 2006, the California Department of Water Resources(DWR) will change the reporting of all tide data collected at 44 locations in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and Suisun Marsh from National Geodetic Vertical Datum 1929 (NGVD29) to the North American Vertical Datum 1988 (NAVD88) standard. Tide stage forecasts for four delta locations (Rio Vista, Antioch, Mallard Island and Venice Island) and river stage forecasts for three river forecast points (Mokelumne River at Bensons Ferry near Thornton, San Joaquin River at Mossdale Bridge, and Yolo Bypass at Lisbon) will be displayed in NGVD29 datum until October 1, 2006...where it will then be displayed as NAVD88. The change to NAVD88 will affect the monitor stage and flood stage at four locations. For more information please click on the following link:
