Season ticket holders, tailgaters, students, casual fans and aspiring Utes descended on downtown Salt Lake City's State Street Friday afternoon to cheer on the undefeated University of Utah football team.

Local dignitaries waved to thousands in the upbeat Ute crowd. Fans flooded the streets despite police warnings to clear back.

"The size of the crowd really shows the Utes they deserved it," said Ben Floyd. The team "really showed a determination to come through in the end."

Those not donning Ute school colors could pick up red paraphernalia along the parade route, which extended from South Temple to the City and County Building on 400 South.
