Good game Riverton! Good way to start region!
Domination | 5:18 a.m. Jan. 16, 2009
Riverton's front line dominated the posts from Bingham. Lockart and Sorensen are two of the best in the state while Gines & Co. offered little in return.

Riverton is playing well and should be no. 1.
Any Questions? | 7:43 a.m. Jan. 16, 2009
Yes, Riverton really is that good. I predict they will be state champions this year.

I am not arguing that Riverton posts didn't play well, in fact Dani Lockhart might be the best player in the state. However, Gines did not get dominated. She proved she is among the elite players in the state and may be the best pure post. As far as the other Bingham posts, they didn't show up.
Re: domination | 9:05 a.m. Jan. 16, 2009
Dani Lockhart is the best player I have seen this season but your comment on Gines are a little strong. Gines is VERY good and will get better. Dani has the luxury of playing with Sorenson while Gines last night had no help. I looked up at the scoreboard last night and at one point Lockhart and Sorenson had done ALL the scoring for Riverton. Bingham's post are young - not one senior. Look for them to be alot better by the time state tournament rolls around. Playing against Lockhart and Sorenson last night did nothing but help the Miner posts. Trust me when they play Riverton again - it will be a different type of game.

Nice game to bad the next tough team either of you face is each other. Riverton lead the whole game and played super. Yazzie with her NBA 3 point attempts that never made it might have done better to share the ball a little, lost count on the misses. Next game will be the same results. Always fun to watch Randell coach especially when they don't have the lead.

Both teams did not play real well. Many turnovers. I expected more from 2 undefeated teams. The Lockheart girl played with great energy. I feel that the Gines girl will be all-state within a year. Good game, but sloppy play. I feel AF is still the team to beat.

I have to agree with the American Fork comment. They are the team to beat. The Riverton/Bingham games are always fun to watch and are usually pretty intense, but again I have to agree with the sloppy play. I'm made that comment several times last night as I watched the game. They both need to clean up and tighten up to do well at state.

Good players, good coaches who respect each other, great atmosphere, but both were too intense at times creating many turnovers. 2 of top teams in the state for sure, with Riverton being the best.

I agree with your statement of Yazzie trying to do to much and she also mentioned when talking to us after the game. But give her some credit for trying as well. With Dixon sick before game, Thurgood in foul trouble, and the 9th grader suspended by coach for the game, it's commendable that Yazzie tried to take the game on her shoulders. She is the only returning starter and probably felt she had to do something. Didn't play well or shoot well but she gave all she had. Riverton is the better team at the moment.

Jeff Judkins was at the game last night. I hope he wasn't looking at Yazzi. At best she is a good high school player. Small, average speed, average shooter when she is guarded by players a few inches bigger than her, not strong enough to make the sharp pass in transition or when in the paint. She will struggle against the good teams who play team defense. She might be able to play at the JC level.
AF???? | 5:13 p.m. Jan. 16, 2009
I am just saying this but AF already did get beat twice if i remember so there goes the whole AF is the team to beat because someone already accomplished that

I don't disagree but you may want to think about this as well. She looked pretty good as a sophomore when they won state and her surrounding cast was better where teams couldn't afford to almost double team her. Being honest, I was there last night and Riverton was sure not going to let her get free. I won't call it an all out double team but it was close. I really think Bingham will be able to do some damage in the state tourney as the other players around her improve. Remember, she is the only starter they have returning. And by the way, who would want to play for BYU anyway. Looked what happened to player of the year Marks.
