On Friday, May 28, Board of Harbor Commissioners President Nick Sramek, a California State University, Long Beach, graduate and "Distinguished Alumnus," walked with the nearly 650 new School of Engineering graduates. It was a moment nearly four decades in the making.

Dr. Mike Walter, who has served on the Harbor Commission since 2005, has been named one of the "Most Inspirational Professors of California State University, Long Beach" by the Senior Class of 2010. Dr. Walter, who is CSULB's Executive Assistant to the President for Community Relations, also is the Distinguished Professor of Economics and Business Administration. Congratulations Dr. Walter.

Check out the new revamped pages with information on permitting for overweight and oversize trucks on roads in and around the Port. Access to roadways is restricted for vehicles that exceed certain size and weight limits. The restrictions vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. For more information start here.

White is a popular color for port trucks in 2010. The Port of Long Beach ushered in the New Year with a major Clean Trucks Program milestone, banning thousands of older more polluting trucks and replacing them mostly with the signature white rigs that now service the Port.
