Contributing to the NWTF
Giving a donation directly to the NWTF is one way of ensuring our hunting and conservation traditions remain alive and well for generations to come. Donations to the NWTF directly benefit outreach programs for women, kids and people with disabilities, many conservation programs, support habitat restoration, and much, much more.
Cash Contributions
A gift of cash is an easy form of donation and is usually made through a check written by the donor. If you itemize your eductions, an outright gift of cash is fully deductible for federal income tax purposes up to 50% of your adjusted gross income. Click on the button below to make an online donation or click here to download a printable gift form to submit by mail.
Legacy—Memorials
Make a donation to the NWTF "In Honor Of" a wild turkey enthusiast's noteworthy accomplishment or "In Memory Of" a good friend or loved one. Your donation will go to work for the wild turkey, and a special, embossed card
will be sent to whomever you select, informing them of your thoughtfulness. Your donation will also be recorded in Turkey Call Magazine. Donations to the Legacy Program help ensure that future generations can thrill to the wild turkey's gobble. For more information on the program, contact Amy Bates at (800) THE-NWTF or abates@nwtf.net
Workplace Giving
Giving through your workplace is an easy way to provide support to the NWTF. If
your workplace participates in the Combined Federal Campaign, you can make payroll
donations to the Federation - just check number 10240 on your CFC application this
year. Another easy way to donate from the workplace is to participate in your
employer's matching gift program.
Corporate & Foundation Support
The corporate and foundation partners of the NWTF provide support for our general
operations as well as for specific projects and programs. Financial contributions,
as well as donations of products and services, are always welcome.
NWTF Planned Giving
There are many options. You can make a planned gift to the Federation by naming
the National Wild Turkey Federation as a beneficiary in your will, life insurance
policy, retirement plan or charitable trust. By making a planned gift to the NWTF,
you will be making a lasting statement about your personal commitment to conservation,
while enjoying important tax benefits for you and your family.
With bequests through your will or other planned gifts to the NWTF, you will become
a member of the Full Strut Club. As a member, you will have the satisfaction of
knowing you are helping conserve wild turkey habitat. Your name will also be included
on the Full Strut Club roster of the NWTF Annual Report.
Gifts Through Your Will
Statistics show that over half of the adults in the U.S die without a valid will.
Having an up-to-date will is beneficial for various reasons, and you should consult
your attorney to ensure that your will takes advantage of recent changes in tax
laws. We hope that while you are considering your will, you consider a provision
for the NWTF.
Gifts of Securities
An excellent method of supporting the NWTF is through a gift of long-term appreciated
securities. This method gives you two valuable tax savings. First, you pay no
capital gains tax for the securities' appreciation in value. Second, you receive
a tax deduction for the full market value of the securities on the date of the
gift.
Gifts of Tangible Personal Property
Includes such items as books, artwork, furniture, Oriental rugs, automobiles,
boats, silverware and jewelry. For these gifts to be deductible at their full
market value: (1) the item must be directly related to the NWTF's tax-exempt purposes;
and (2) you must have owned the item long-term.
Gifts of Real Estate
You may own a residence, vacation home, farm, acreage, or vacant lot that has
appreciated over the years and therefore, selling it would mean a sizeable capital
gains tax. By supporting the NWTF through a gift of real estate, you would avoid
the capital gains tax and also receive a charitable deduction for the full fair
market value of the property.
Life Insurance
You can use a policy that you currently own but no longer need, or purchase a
new policy, to make a gift to the NWTF. At the time of your death, when the proceeds
are paid to the NWTF, your estate would receive a charitable deduction.
Trusts
There are numerous types of Trusts that people create to serve various circumstances.
You should check with your attorney to see whether one might be appropriate for
your situation. A few types of Trusts are: Unitrusts, Annuity Trusts, Charitable
Lead Trusts, Remainder Trusts and Revocable Trusts.
