THE CVIS SERVICE HAS BEEN DISCOUNTINUED.

For a number of years, the University of Manitoba has been providing a centrally supported service for the storage of faculty CVs in a repository. The system being used to provide this repository was developed by an external company. The CVIS software system is no longer being supported by the  external contractor and unfortunately the system is no longer sustainable at the University of Manitoba. A market survey has also determined that there is no standard in Canadian universities for commercial software to provide similar services. It has also become clear that there is considerable complexity involved in a single CV repository due to differing requirements in format and content for CVs in various academic disciplines and the wide variety of requirements for CV submissions to external agencies.  The University is therefore not able to continue to provide a central CVIS service beyond December 31, 2008.

No CV information in the repository will be lost since the ability to extract your current CV information from the central database to a Microsoft Word format or to other formats currently exists.   We ask that those with data in the CVIS system extract it as soon as possible, and by no later than December 31, 2008. Kevin Stewart (Kevin_Stewart@UManitoba.CA ; 474-8613) will be available to assist in extracting the data if required. The University will continue to review the market for potential commercial solutions to a central CV repository.
