Structural components provide support to environmental education through policy, funding, administration and implementation. The structural components of a comprehensive capacity building program include the following: K-12 EE Instruction Requirements State Curriculum/Resource Guides Online Database of EE Resources State EE Board or Advisory Council See also Program, Funding and Diversity areas for integration into a comprehensive system. (Note: Not all components are necessary to have in place for a comprehensive EE program. The prioritization of components and how they are achieved varies from state to state. Ultimately, comprehensive EE programs involve a majority of the components listed.)
The NCDENR Office of Environmental Education coordinates the EE Clearinghouse, which contains information and links on many EE related issues. Categories include: EE Centers, Environmental Information, Access to Environmental Data, Materials and Publications, Resources for Adults and General Public, EE Library Grants, News and Events, Professional Development, and EE Certification.
