Dreier Keeping Busy
Rep. David Dreier might now be in the minority party in the U.S. House of Representatives, but he's not letting that deter him from getting an early start.
The Glendora Republican introduced several pieces of legislation aimed at enhancing border security and meeting local needs in the foothill area.
"As the 110th Congress begins, border security, economic growth, and meeting local needs remain my top priorities," he said.
Dreier reintroduced his legislation to make the Social Security card counterfeit proof and crack down on the hiring of illegal immigrants.
It amends the Immigration and Nationality Act to enforce restrictions on employment in the United States of unauthorized aliens through the use of improved Social Security cards and an employment eligibility database.
Another bill would provide $50 million to continue a cleanup of drinking water.
Congress originally authorized $85 million, but an additional $50 million is needed, he said.
A third bill authorizes $30million for the Inland Empire Utilities Agency and the Cucamonga Valley Water District to produce approximately 100,000 acre-feet of new recycled water annually.
