Widespread Flooding This Spring First Steps to Flood Recovery

National Weather Service is predicting above average or high risk of flooding this spring in the north central U.S. and upper Mississippi River and tributaries, the Ohio River valley, the lower Mississippi River and northeastern U.S. The outlook is influenced by above-average snow fall over the winter months and torrential spring rains.

Pest Issues in Wheat and Corn Appearing in Nebraska

Stephen Wegulo, UNL Extension plant pathologist, discusses wheat diseases has observed leaf spot and powder mildew showing up in Nebraska wheat fields. Bob Wright, UNL Extension Entomologist, recommends scouting for corn cutworm on emerging corn plants in the second Market Journal video. Distillers Grains Can Be Used in Cow/Calf Operations

UNL Extension's Crop Watch web site provides farmers with current information on 7-day average soil temperature at a 4 inch depth, helpful for spring planting decisions.
