Josh Vincent was appointed Police Chief for the City of Alvarado at the City Council meeting Monday July 20, 2009.

The City received over eighty (80) applications from persons from all over the United States. After narrowing down the applications to ten (10) semi-finalists the City chose four (4) finalists that were interviewed by a committee made up of six (6) persons from different aspects of the community. From those interviews it was decided that we had the person for the job already here in Alvarado.

Chief Vincent has lived in the Alvarado Community for 16 years and has worked for the police department for 13 years. He started as a dispatcher in 1996 and has worked in every capacity available through the Alvarado Police Department. He has been a patrol officer, detective, sergeant, lieutenant and has been the department's captain for the last 5 years. Of course he knows the community well and through the years has developed a vision of what he feels is important for the City.

Chief Vincent's vision is to bring the community and the police department closer together through a strong community policing program. Hopefully you will see the department take on a more proactive role in crime prevention and work closer with the community to lower criminal activity in Alvarado. Chief Vincent has established quarterly community outreach meetings whereby citizens can meet with him and other officers to discuss community concerns. Matter of fact the first meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 28th in Alvarado City Hall. The schedule calls for meetings in different parts of the City in the future.

He is excited to take on this new role and looks forward to participating in the exciting future of the City and in particular the Alvarado Police Department.
