These are remarkable, carefree and low-maintenance plants for full sun or very light shade, in well-drained soil, tolerating the rigorous heat and humidity in the southeast as well as the coolness of the Pacific Northwest. The dwarf selections of Cryptomeria are ideally suited to the rock garden, trough or container, whereas the larger selections can be effectively used in the mixed border, foundation planting or for screening.
