Observed annually on December 1st, World
AIDS Day serves to strengthen global efforts to address the challenges
of the AIDS pandemic, which continues to spread throughout every
region of the world.1
On World AIDS Day 2003, each of us should consider how we can help in
the fight against HIV/AIDS2. |

At the end of 2002,
an estimated 384,906 persons in the United States3 and 42 million persons
worldwide were living with HIV/AIDS. Worldwide in 2002,
3.1 million persons died of AIDS4. |
