Epidemiology Centers
Tribal epidemiology centers are a critical element of the CDC/Indian
Health Service (IHS) partnership to improve the health and well-being of
AI/AN populations. Activities include surveillance for disease
conditions, epidemiological analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of
surveillance data, investigation of disease outbreaks, development and
implementation of epidemiological studies, development and implementation
of disease control and prevention programs, and coordination of activities
with other public health authorities in the region.

Albuquerque, New Mexico
Collaborates with 27 Southwestern American Indian Tribes to
provide health-related research, surveillance, and training to
improve the quality of life of American Indians. |

Serves to improve American Indian health in
California to the highest level by engaging American Indian
communities in collecting and interpreting health information to
establish health priorities, monitor health status, and develop

Supports tribal communities in Michigan,
Minnesota and Wisconsin in their efforts to improve health by
assisting with data needs through partnership development, community

Tribal Epidemiology Center (ITCA TEC) Phoenix, Arizona
Develops Tribally directed epidemiology and public health services
that enable Tribes' to assess individual and community health
status, improve ability to plan, conduct and manage their local
public health services for their communities in coordination with
other health authorities.
