CLUSTER
Welcome to the information source for the IBM cluster
known as Cluster.scl.ameslab.gov
This cluster of dual processor Power3 workstations is made possible
via a Shared University Research (SUR) grant from IBM to Iowa State
University as well as a grant from the USDOE. It is a joint venture
of the ISU Departments of Chemistry and Physics, and the Ames
Laboratory Scalable Computing Laboratory. The primary purposes of the
cluster are to develop efficient methods for performing parallel
computations on state-of-the-art clusters, and to apply these methods
to grand challenge problems in chemistry, physics and related fields.
Below is a picture of the cluster as it now stands. The file server
is on the middle shelf on the right rack. The Gigabit and Fast
Ethernet switches are in a rack out of view to the left.
