BIFZ Camp Crew Wants You

Camp Crew Employment

The Burns Interagency Fire Zone (BIFZ) recruits individuals during the month of March each year for emergency summer employment on the BIFZ Camp Crew. Camp Crew is targeted to individuals 16-22 years old and is a great opportunity to find temporary work and great pay on a call-when-needed basis.

Camp Crew workers are hired during wildfire emergencies and may travel nationwide to fire assignments, possibly being away for at least 14 days. Duties on assignment typically include setting up and taking down fire camp, loading and unloading supplies, and completing various types of cleanup. Conditions at fire camp involve hot weather, dusty conditions, tent camping, and heavy lifting for many consecutive days. Paid travel time is guaranteed, along with a minimum of 8 work hours each day.

Applications for Camp Crew are available each year during the recruiting period, at the Burns Employment Office, 809 West Jackson. The recruiting period is typically March 1-March 30, and applications must be returned to the Employment Office no later than March 30. Applicants must be 16 years old by June 1 of the recruitingyear, in good physical health to qualify, and may be required to pass drug and background checks.
