Transplant Manitoba's Garden of Life
The Transplant Manitoba's Garden of Life is an ever-growing symbol of the new life that is possible because of organ donation and transplantation. The Garden, situated in Assiniboine Park across from the Conservatory, is filled with almost 3000 plants that depict the shape, color or care of the vital organs used in transplantation. This innovative public relations initiative was created by the program in 1998 to heighten awareness of organ donation and transplantation in Manitoba. Volunteers, many of whom are transplant recipients and donor family members, lovingly maintain the Garden from May through September.

This year, another creative and beautiful garden awaits visitors at Assinboine Park this summer, thanks to the volunteers of The Garden of Life! Our Garden is well stocked thanks to Shelmerdine Garden Centre Ltd., Bartmanovich Nursery, the Assinboine Park Conservatory, Vanstone Nurseries, and Schriemer's Home and Garden Showplace. Lunch and snacks on planting day were provided by Big Hal Productions, Pepsi Cola Canada Beverages, Saputo Inc., Frito Lay Canada and Starbucks on Corydon. This year's Spring Clean-Up and Planting Day volunteers included: Marilyn Rainkie, Bernice Lewis, Louise Evans,Aileen Khan, George Sxhweitzer, Dave and Bev McMillan, Kay Jack, Allison and Michael McMullen from Ottawa, Joseph Kollar, Darlene Ronald, Starr Beghin and Melody Delasantos from Denver.

Special thanks to Ed Mathis from HSC's BioMedical Communications for taking photographs for us!
